Statement of the ABNB on the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic
On this World Banana Day, the world is struggling with the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic. The health effects are extreme and the global economy is massively affected. Production is being restricted, international trade is being disrupted and further consumer behaviour is currently unpredictable. The banana supply chain is adjusting to the effects. However, it is unclear how the situation in the sector will develop.
The ABNB takes a stand on the current developments and calls for solidarity with all partners in the supply chains. The ABNB calls for solutions to be sought with partners in the supply chain in the short, medium and long term to contain and counter the effects of the pandemic.
