Welcome to From Farm to Fork!

Biodiversity Integration In Agrifood Value Chains

Learn on this page how biodiversity and ecosystem services in banana and pineapple cultivation can be effectively protected and how companies along the value chain can participate in this process.

The goals of our project are ambitious: The protection of biodiversity and related ecosystem services must be integrated into the value chains of bananas and pineapples from conventional cultivation. The activities will be implemented primarily in the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica. From Farm to Fork promotes the participation of key stakeholders along the value chain. These include importers, food companies and food retailers as well as end consumers. The activities in Germany and the German-speaking market are aimed at these target groups.

The political partners of the project are the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica (MINAE) and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of the Dominican Republic.

The project is financed by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) with the support of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and implemented by the German development cooperation, GIZ, and the NGOs Global Nature Fund and Lake Constance Foundation.
